Disability Services
Campus-wide Ceremony
The Comcast Center is equipped with elevators and accessible entrances located to the right of the steps that lead to the main entrance, as well as in the Terrapin Trail Garage. There are many long hallways in the Comcast Center and much walking is required. The University of Maryland does not have wheelchairs available. If you have difficulty walking long distances, consider renting a wheelchair from an off-campus vendor (such as a medical supply store or drug store).
Graduates or guests who need disability accommodations or have questions regarding the accommodations for the campus-wide ceremony may contact the Office of Special Events at events@ur.umd.edu or 301.405.4638.
Individual College and School Ceremonies
For information regarding disability accommodations for the individual college or school ceremonies, please contact the graduating student's individual college or school.
Sign Language Interpreters
Sign language interpreters are available upon request for all ceremonies. Please contact the Disability Support Service at least three weeks before the ceremony at 301.314.7209 or dhhs@umd.edu to make arrangements.
Flowers and Photos
Commencement Flowers will sell roses at the various ceremony sites across campus. Three sizes of flower arrangements are available for $10, $15 and $30. In order to commemorate this milestone in our graduates' lives, GradImages will take photographs of each graduate participating in the campus-wide commencement ceremony prior to the procession and at the majority of the individual college and school ceremonies. While there is no obligation to purchase the prints, the graduate will receive color proofs by mail approximately two weeks after commencement. In order to receive the proofs, please make sure that you complete the company's address card, distributed in the line-up area prior to the procession.
