Parking & Transit Guide
The campus-wide ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 and several individual college or school ceremonies are scheduled to take place Thursday afternoon, while the majority of the individual college or school ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 20. On both Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20, there will be a great deal of movement between the ceremonies. To help ease any difficulties, the University of Maryland Police is offering several suggestions to make your visit to the University of Maryland commencement ceremonies as pleasant as possible.
We recommend guests to utilize public transportation as much as possible to help reduce the amount of vehicle traffic on campus. To this end, Transportation Services will be running shuttles between the Metro and Campus along with routes throughout the campus to get people to the different ceremonies. If you would like to drive to campus and then use the shuttles to travel about the university, consider parking your vehicle in a lot closest to your final destination.
In the event you wish to drive from Comcast to your respective College Commencement after the campus-wide ceremony on Thursday, May 19, please know that virtually all traffic at the conclusion of the Campus-Wide Commencement at Comcast will be directed to University Blvd via Paint Branch Drive. To help ease the any congestion issues at the conclusion of the Campus-Wide Commencement, there will be no incoming Southbound traffic towards Comcast on Paint Branch Drive from University Blvd. Incoming traffic along Paint Branch Drive will be closed before the conclusion of the campus-wide Commencement beginning tentatively between 11:30 a.m. and noon. The Paint Branch entrance will be reopened as soon as possible to accommodate Comcast's 2:30 graduation.
Visitors will be able reenter the campus at Stadium Drive along University Blvd or Campus Drive along Baltimore Ave (Rte. 1) depending on the location of the graduating students' college commencement location.
For more information regarding transit, parking, shuttles and directions to the University, please review the transit and parking website prepared by Transportation Services.
