Main Ceremony, Comcast Center
President C.D. "Dan" Mote, Jr. will
confer all the degrees at the campus-wide Commencement in the Comcast Center. The processional will begin at 7:00 p.m. This is a once-in-a-lifetime
event, so please be on time!
The commencement ceremony is a time when the campus community comes together to honor all graduates and their families. Best wishes and greetings are extended in speeches by the Chancellor of the University system and the President. The University awards honorary degrees at this time.
The Main Commencement speaker is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Carl
Bernstein. Bernstein, 64, worked with fellow Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward to
uncover the story about the Watergate break-in, which eventually brought about
the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974.
The Main Commencement student speaker is Natalie Prizel, who is graduating with a bachelor's in English and certification in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Studies.
The Commencement platform party is made up of the President, Chancellor,
members of the Board of Regents, Trustees, deans, chief of administrative officers,
student representatives, Commencement and college ceremony speakers, and honorary
degree recipients.
